Limited Gas Work Qualifications

On August 29, 2024, the Department of Buildings (DOB) announced the extension of the expiration date for Limited Gas Work Qualifications issued before January 1, 2020. These qualifications will now expire on December 31, 2024, to provide a full 5-year term, as mandated by Local Law 150 of 2016. After expiration, these qualifications cannot be renewed or reissued. The DOB will not issue new cards reflecting the updated expiration date. Instead, qualification holders will receive an email confirming the extension, which they should print and carry as proof of the new expiration date.

As of August 1, 2024, the Gas Work Qualification written exam will transition to an open-book format. Candidates will have access to the Examination Content Outline from the Gas Work Candidate Information Bulletin in electronic form on the exam platform at the testing center, but no other reference materials will be allowed.
